The E2 Optics AV Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing and performing the technical designs and documentation build packages and frequently field engineering and commissioning of Systems Integration projects. The Project Engineer will report to the Project Manager on each of their assigned projects and have direct control over all technical project activities in close association with the Project Manager. The Project Engineer will coordinate installations with the lead Installation Technician assigned to the project and the Project Manager. The Project Engineer is responsible for implementing all the projects assigned to them. Daily activities include project communications, scheduling, task lists for technicians, managing deliverables from engineering, CAD and Programming supervision and overseeing the completion of projects. The employee in this position is responsible for completing systems integration projects on time, on budget and achieving high customer satisfaction from our customers. The majority of this employee's time will be spent engineering and supporting projects and communicating with the Project Manager and Technicians. This person will maintain deep knowledge of all assigned projects and communicate daily with the Project Manager to effectively manage technical resources. They will focus on creating efficiencies in the workflow process to help E2 Optics with growth and profitability. This person will be accountable for following and helping to improve the approved E2 Optics processes.

  • Follow safe work practices in accordance with company and client worksite policies.

  • Designs, plans, and coordinates work teams with regard to systems installation projects.
  • Assumes ownership of individual projects and assignments.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with Account Executives, Project Managers, installation technicians, subcontractors, clients, etc.
  • Facilitate regular project recapping and budget review meetings for all projects that you estimated or engineered.
  • Provide AV, RF, sound, conferencing, network, et cetera, system design services for E2 Optics and its customers.
  • Design control system functionality and programming function lists for control systems.
  • Make engineering computations, write specifications.
  • Generate equipment lists and wire labels.
  • Verify completed sketches and confirm dimensions and materials needed for the installation project.
  • Perform system testing, verifications, and commissioning of all installed systems.
  • Develop and communicate project updates weekly or as required.
  • Provide constant monitoring of labor, equipment and materials budgets.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to project team members.
  • Develop and maintain installation schedules.
  • Perform field verification of prospective work site.
  • Document all issues with site and keep everyone informed of potential issues and solutions.
  • Coordinate all drawings and documentation between the office and the field.
  • Facilitate and direct design reviews to assure proper documentation in the field.
  • Coordinate all system programming and final checkout of systems.
  • Provide punch-list of remaining tasks after substantial completion.
  • Order installation materials and stage equipment, by project, in warehouse.
  • Contract with contractors and other trades when necessary.
  • Monitor status of projects including cost, timing and staffing to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
  • Coordinate training & turnover of projects to client, service department, & sales.
  • Maintain at least 80% of all billable time to projects.
  • Perform field verifications of work done.
  • Help to maintain quality standards.
  • Responsible for proper handling and care of expensive AV equipment from the shop and warehouse to the field, including the proper check-out and return of test equipment.
  • Ability to train clients/end-users on system operation.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 5+ years of actual on the job experience working at E2 Optics or 7 years or more of verifiable commercial project engineering/design experience at other firms.
  • Successful completion of all levels of E2 Optics' Technical Academy.
  • Current general CTS certification from the ICIA.
  • CAPM certification from the PMI (Project Management Institute).
  • Basic and Advanced schools of AV technologies from Extron.
  • ACE control systems design expert certification from AMX.
  • Polycom and/or Clearone and/or Biamp DSP audio classes.
  • Polycom and/or Tandberg Video conferencing classes.
  • AMX and/or Crestron Classes (Configuration, installer and/or design).
  • ICIA installation online class and Design online class.
  • ISF Commercial Calibration Certification.
  • Familiarity with audio/video systems.
  • Knowledgeable of low voltage electrical concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • People skills.
  • Ability and skills to diagnose and resolve most technical, political and people related problems.
