We are looking for a bright and energetic candidate to lead our team as an Audiovisual (AV)/Multimedia Installation Technicians in the installation and maintenance of AV/Multimedia/Videoconferencing systems. The position will require supervising the installation, set-up, and maintenance of equipment and systems used for visual information display, and audio and video conferencing for meetings and conferences in a variety of settings including small meeting rooms, large conference rooms, operations centers, and auditoriums. This individual will be a task performer and a lead-by-example supervisor. Travel to local project sites within the Washington Metropolitan Area, Central and Coastal Virginia including NSWC Dahlgren and Norfolk, Southern Maryland including PAX River Naval Air Station, Western Maryland towards Ft. Detrick is required and there may be occasional travel to more distant sites in the Mid-Atlantic (Pennsylvania) and Southeast (North Carolina) regions.

  • Installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of AV equipment and systems.
  • Work with AV Program Director to create, update, and implement project schedules and oversee work to ensure work is completed according to the project schedule
  • Move/transport equipment from one location to another.
  • Maintain equipment by performing maintenance inspections, adjusting and calibrating equipment, and diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
  • Oversee the cataloging and asset management of equipment and systems.
  • Work with team to complete team tasks.
  • Support shift work operations, with 8-hour shifts between 6am and 6pm and weekends as needed (may be required to be on-call at times, with a one-hour response time).
  • Report problems and take-in equipment for repair.
  • Clean and store equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • 10 or more years of experience performing installation of AV equipment and systems in different room environments from small conference rooms to large auditoriums and operations/command centers
  • High School Diploma
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Strong understanding of audio-visual equipment and concepts
  • Ability to participate in technical training
  • Able to lead a team and perform as a team member
  • Must have professional demeanor, positive attitude, patience, flexibility, and a customer-service attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both employees and managers.
  • Ability to convey a professional and positive image to customers.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematics.
  • Ability to be responsive and persuasive to all levels of the organization.
  • Good analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Individual may be required to undergo a Department of Defense background security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Must be able to lead a team of installers and programmers in the performance and completion of multiple types of installation projects.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and talk and hear.
  • Ability to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to taste or smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
