About The Position

We are partnering with a leading custom residential integration firm known for premium smart home installations across the Chicagoland area. Privately owned and operated by its founders, this integrator has earned a reputation for top-tier craftsmanship and innovation across Control4, Savant, Lutron, and Unifi platforms. To strengthen their technical operations, they are conducting a nationwide search for a remote Lead Programmer—someone who can support and elevate their field teams with deep platform expertise and thoughtful leadership. We’re seeking an elite-level programmer or systems engineer who has "seen it all" in the integration world and is ready to step out of the field into a leadership-oriented, fully remote role. You’ll serve as a technical anchor—providing advanced programming, remote configuration, deployment guidance, and troubleshooting support to technicians across the company. This is a hands-on, highly visible role that requires communication excellence, initiative, and deep platform fluency.

Requirements

  • Mastery in at least 3 of the following platforms: Control4, Savant, Lutron, Unifi.
  • Hands-on experience in residential AV and automation, including programming, deployment, and system design.
  • Outstanding communication skills—you can coach others clearly and calmly, even when troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Process-minded and self-driven—you work independently and manage your time with excellence.
  • Strong problem-solving instincts with the ability to think several steps ahead and coach others to do the same.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a remote engineering or programming support role.
  • Certification in Control4, Savant, Lutron, or Unifi.
  • Experience mentoring or leading field technicians or support engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Remotely configure and program Control4, Savant, Lutron, and Unifi systems across multiple job sites.
  • Support production teams by uploading configurations, verifying setups, and remotely troubleshooting deployment issues.
  • Partner with the service team to solve complex issues that go beyond standard technical support.
  • Assist sales and engineering teams in scoping new projects and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and mentor to field technicians—coaching them on system design, programming logic, and best practices.

Benefits

  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • Generous PTO policy and paid holidays
