About The Position

The AV Design Engineer 2 position at M.C. Dean involves working within the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit to design, engineer, integrate, and maintain electronic security services. This role focuses on creating solutions for audio-visual systems, including videoconferencing and integrated technologies, while ensuring compliance with project requirements and stakeholder needs. The engineer will collaborate with a dynamic team and contribute to the development of complex systems for various clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2+ years' OR Master's Degree in Engineering with 0+ years' of experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing and implementing hardware and software solutions for data center and virtual infrastructure technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with cost estimates and work breakdown structures for complex projects.
  • Experience performing technical cross-training/coaching of junior colleagues.
  • Background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong time management and organization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 20% of the time.
  • Familiarity with IT, telecommunications, A/V, and electrical equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of videoconferencing standards.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Experience performing complex design/build and conceptual design practices.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • AutoCAD experience or similar drafting software experience.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with security systems integration.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with federal, local, and commercial security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create Drawing Packages and Bill of Materials in CAD.
  • Design and test complex videoconferencing and integrated audio/visual technologies.
  • Design audio/video systems with Crestron, AMX, and Extron control systems.
  • Conduct customer site surveys and provide sales engineering support.
  • Develop project scopes and provide overall system costing for A/V projects.
  • Design and troubleshoot various network and telecommunications systems.
  • Understand plans and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize and organize work.
  • Develop test plans for AV control system functional acceptance tests.
  • Conduct on-site user and administrative training for installed systems.
