As the Auxiliary Systems Test Engineer, you will be on a team in Pascagoula, MS, where you will be evaluating and managing the delivery of new amphibious ships and landing craft to the fleet. You will also work closely with Government and industry professionals, shipbuilders, and other support personnel. Serco is part of a team led by a Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager having decades of experience working in the DoD and Shipbuilding Industry. Our Naval Acquisition and Sustainment Operation, which is part of Serco's Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) business, provides critical services to nearly all U.S. Navy amphibious ships and craft. Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active interim clearance after hire or an active or current DoD Secret clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • An Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree or a High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5 years of relevant/similar experience working with shipboard Combat Systems.
  • Higher level education such as a Master's Degree will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Navy and shipyard teams both orally and in written reports and briefings using Microsoft Office Products.
  • Engineering and Auxiliary system experience with one or more of the following: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Potable Water and VCHT systems, Compressed Air Systems.
  • Ability to support activities in a shipyard or naval facility.
  • Ability to walk and climb throughout the ship, to accomplish ship checks.
  • Ability to travel 10% to support activities in a shipyard or naval facility or onboard ship while underway.

Responsibilities

  • Witness tests of Auxiliaries (AX) tests and surveillance of auxiliary systems on LPD 17 Class vessels.
  • Review, update, and develop test procedures for shipboard testing events related to Auxiliary Systems.
  • Conduct surveillance of spaces and reports deficiencies, unusual conditions and test and grooming progress.
  • Research Ship Specifications, drawings, technical manuals and PMS for test compliance.
  • Review Object Quality Evidence (OQE) in support of government requirements.
  • Establish and maintain productive liaison with Government Project teams, Production Teams and Shipbuilder.
  • Monitor Installation of Auxiliary Systems in New Construction shipyard environment.
  • Identify performance issues with Auxiliaries Systems; isolate issues to either hardware or software or particular interfaces during testing.
  • Draft and submit software trouble reports that describe the performance issue compared to performance requirements.
  • Participate as a test team member for all troubleshooting, training and scenarios.
