About The Position

The Auxiliary Operator is responsible for assisting in the safe and efficient operation of the Power Plant, and the supporting equipment and systems. The Auxiliary Operator carries out all routine water/gas chemistry analysis, inspects and monitors operating components, and reports Plant status. The Auxiliary Operator will also support in the maintenance of the facility.

Requirements

• Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment, as would be acquired in four years of high school.
• Associate Degree in a technical field, desirable.
• Experience in a Power Plant environment desired, preferably as a Power Plant Technician.
• Experience working with high-pressure turbines and combustion turbines.
• Experience in water chemistry control and chemical-handling requirements is desired.
• Strong aptitude in math and mechanical/electrical ability, desired.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion-turbine operations and industrial safety is highly desirable.
• Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls, desirable.
• Mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment knowledge is desired.

Responsibilities

• Have a strong working knowledge of the ContourGlobal Health & Safety Management System and its respective safe work practices.
• Coach and mentor facility employee through engagement on proper safety behaviors.
• Verify job tasks are adequately reviewed prior to initiating work.
• Ensure all Incidents and potential adverse events are quickly communicated to Plant leadership.
• Performs work as assigned by the Operations Manager.
• Assists with operations of equipment and monitors operational parameters.
• Operates and maintains a wide variety of Power Plant equipment.
• Maintain operations of chemical-pumping system.
• Assists with maintenance activities including mechanical work and electrical repair activities.
• Performs or assists with preventive maintenance actions.
• Withdraws parts and supplies from inventory and completes usage reports.
• Works on and repairs rotating equipment, chemical systems, and water-processing equipment.
• Performs emergency operations and maintenance.
• Obtains direction from other team members to effect changes in Plant conditions.
• Actively supports the Maintenance team in the execution of maintenance plans.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Physical requirements include standing on feet for extended periods and lifting up to fifty pounds.
• Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts, with weekend and holiday work as required.
