About The Position

This position is in the Nuclear Operations department at the Beaver Valley Power Station located in Shippingport, PA. Specific responsibilities for this position include: Placing equipment in operation and operating and removing equipment from operation using approved station procedures. Maintaining proper lubrication of equipment. Performing switching and tagging for clearance operations. Performing routine radiation monitoring necessary to obtain access to operating areas or equipment and/or necessary to process and ship radioactive waste. Frequently checking the operation of equipment and diagnosing any difficulties. Using appropriate tools and materials to perform minor adjustment and repair work. Taking necessary action in case of an emergency and notifying the Reactor Operator or station supervision of unusual or irregular conditions. Recording readings, changing charts and keeping proper records of work done on the shift. Performing various operating procedures and equipment surveillance tests as directed. Performing as a member of the station emergency squad and fire squad. Using appropriate tools and materials to maintain assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and well lighted manner. Directing and training other operations employees, checking the performance of their work in order to maintain safe and proper operating conditions. Effectively using electrical and mechanical prints, diagrams and manuals in performance of job duties. Performing all work in accordance with station safety and radiological control regulations and practices. Performing all duties is accordance with INPO good operating practices, and NRC regulations, and industry standards. Training, qualifying and maintaining job qualification in accordance with industry standards and INPO approved qualification programs. Assisting other employees as required and as needed during normal and refueling operations. Operating plant computer equipment such as Work Process monitoring, corrective actions, procedure usage and change, and work scheduling software. Performing similar or less skilled duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of college in a technical area or equivalent experience is desired.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret and work from prints and electrical drawings.
  • Two years of power plant experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass appropriate oral and/or written examinations.
  • Ability to pass appropriate physical examinations.
  • Complete assigned training for the position.
  • Thorough working knowledge of company safety regulations and practices and methods of executing clearances.
  • Thorough working knowledge of radiation worker standards and practices.
