Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, Summary: Perform autopsies following safety procedures. Maintains the morgue work-space, inventory of supplies and instruments, and assures a continuous state of inspection readiness. Performs all duties of the Histology Aide 3.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- three years experience
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical strength.
- High level of attention to detail.
Nice To Haves
- Associates Degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Performs all responsibilities of the Histology Aide 3.
- Assists pathologist and Residents with autopsies (full, limited, brains, special circumstances such as highly infectious and Creutzfeldt Jacob Disease following procedures and safety.
- Maintains the morgue work-space, observing sanitary standards and appropriate hygiene. Cleans floors, shelves and table.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and instruments required to perform all autopsies, and orders as needed.
- Assures a continuous state of inspection readiness for CAP, State, and OSHA inspections. Assists in updates to procedures manual.
- Performs maintenance, set-up, and cleaning of striker bone saw and instruments. Operates formalin recycler.
- Releases bodies to funeral directors or state medical examiner's office. Disposes of tissue and organs on scheduled basis.
- Trains new Pathology residents and Histology aides.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
