About The Position

This Autonomy Systems Engineer position is with the Operator Augmentation division of Cat Technology. This is a systems engineering role working with in cab driver monitoring systems. You’ll be working on software requirements development for new features, interacting with hardware component teams, defining system block diagrams and schematics, troubleshooting issues, coordinating with testing teams, and meeting with suppliers. This is a fast-paced and challenging job, but the intangible rewards are high knowing that you are directly contributing to our customer’s safety.

Requirements

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Software Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.
  • Software Product Testing: Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements.
  • Application Development Tools: Knowledge of application and system development; ability to utilize a variety of specific tools and toolkits for developing applications.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Systems Engineer creating requirements for engineering products.
  • Experience creating technical documents and specifications documents
  • Systems Integration experience preferred
  • Prior experience supporting projects with Cameras and Sensors preferred
  • Mining / Construction Industry experience preferred
  • DevOps experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and researching data on customer experience with robotic and driver monitoring platforms; preparing reports for management.
  • Documenting architecture specifications, software design description, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures.
  • Utilizing appropriate tools to debug, test and maintain software and hardware systems of robotic and driver monitoring tools; assisting in the verification and validation process.
  • Participating in design and development of application software and algorithms for robotic and driver monitoring platforms.
