About The Position

At Wisk, we're transforming the future of urban mobility through safe, all-electric, autonomous flight. We are a passionate team working together toward a sustainable future, solving high-impact problems that have never been solved before. By delivering everyday flight for everyone, we're making it possible to spend less time getting there and more time being there. If you want to be part of shaping the future of mobility, then read on! Wisk’s internship experience is a 12 week, hands-on program. Our goal for our internship program is to see what it’s like to be a full time Wisk employee and complete meaningful work. Are you the type of person that always asks “why”? Do you like to learn through testing? We are looking for an Autonomy Simulation Software Engineering Intern to join our team for summer 2025. The goal of an Autonomy Simulation intern at Wisk is to contribute to the development and enhancement of our automated simulation environment. You will be part of the Autonomy Simulation team, which is responsible for integrating and testing autonomy modules such as flight path management, conflict detection and resolution, and multi-vehicle coordination within our simulation environment. You will be able to understand how the system works end to end, from operational procedures to specific detect-and-avoid algorithms.

Requirements

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters or PhD degree with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027
  • Experience with Python and C++ programming.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on solving cutting-edge challenges in urban air mobility.

Responsibilities

  • As part of the Autonomy Simulation organization, you will act as a Software Engineering Intern for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.
  • You will take part in integrating and refining simulation models for key autonomy functions, such as flight path management, detect-and-avoid systems, and airspace integration.
  • You will help support problem-solving activities related to simulation performance and data analysis, assisting in identifying issues with autonomy module behaviors during various off-nominal and nominal scenarios.
  • You will develop tools that help to visualize the data and the results of the simulations.
  • You will collaborate with software engineers, autonomy developers, and system integration teams to develop new simulation features, write test cases, and automate data collection and analysis pipelines.
  • You will assist in maintaining and enhancing our Kubernetes-based simulation infrastructure to ensure scalable, efficient testing and performance validation.

Benefits

  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 9 off Fridays for full-time employees throughout the year, flexible vacation time off, 11 company holidays, a 401(k) plan with 50% company matching vested immediately, commuter assistance, and education assistance.
