As an Autonomy Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, definition, development, and test of the robotics hardware development; collaborates with senior engineers to ensure that internal and external clients' needs are met. Additional Information: This role is located in Tucson, AZ and does offer relocation. This role is 1st shift, Monday – Friday. This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules This role requires up to 25% domestic and/or international travel

Requirements

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Application Development Tools: Knowledge of application and system development; ability to utilize a variety of specific tools and toolkits for developing applications.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering/Technical field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the organization's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Design experience in Creo with electrical and light fabrications
  • Prior experience with Caterpillar products
  • Prior HVC and Team Center experience
  • Prior experience in a similar role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Level 8 (L8) and Level 6 (L6) Bill of Materials (BOM) structures, and release machine‑level BOMs through the Machine Integration Order (MIO) workflow.
  • Lead space claim and full machine layout for autonomy components, ensuring proper packaging and system‑level integration.
  • Conduct system configuration checks, including clearance and interference reviews, Built‑In Quality (BIQ) verification, and safety and regulatory compliance assessments.
  • Maintain high model quality using top‑down modeling practices to support autonomy system integration.
  • Facilitate Manufacturing and Assembly Reviews and support machine measure‑up activities.
  • Ensure accurate product weight roll‑ups and coordinate styling, nomenclature, and product markings.
  • Support Integration Engineers during design reviews and contribute to early-stage concept model generation for autonomy hardware, layouts, and space claims.
  • Review Non‑Hydraulic Line (NHL) component usage, ensure design compatibility when processing Engineering Notices, and participate in Collaborative Product and Process Development (CPPD) activities as needed.
