About The Position

We’re seeking a safety‑focused professional driver with hands‑on data collection experience to operate instrumented vehicles and capture high‑quality sensor data that trains and validates autonomous driving systems. You’ll execute planned routes, monitor vehicle behavior and onboard sensors, and document detailed observations that help engineers improve perception, prediction, and planning performance.

Requirements

  • Professional driving experience (e.g., commercial delivery, ride‑hail, logistics, fleet, or test driving) with a strong safety record.
  • Hands‑on data collection experience using mobile sensors, data loggers, or field-data apps (running routes, verifying collection quality, uploading datasets).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license; clean MVR that meets company standards.
  • Strong situational awareness and concentration for extended driving and monitoring sessions.
  • Proficiency with basic computer tools (Google Workspace/Microsoft 365) and comfort operating laptops/tablets in‑vehicle.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; disciplined documentation habits; commitment to safety, procedure, and confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automotive test operations, ADAS/AV testing, or fleet operations.
  • Familiarity with sensor payloads (camera calibration, LiDAR alignment, GNSS/IMU checks) and basic Linux/CLI for log checks.
  • Exposure to labeling/annotation tools, JIRA/ServiceNow, or quality control workflows.
  • CDL (A/B) or passenger endorsements; defensive driving training; EV familiarity.
  • First Aid/CPR certification; OSHA/DOT awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Operate test vehicles safely and lawfully on public roads and test tracks while adhering to all traffic laws and internal safety protocols.
  • Execute daily data collection missions following predefined route plans; set up, verify, and calibrate sensor payloads (e.g., cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS/IMU) before runs.
  • Monitor and log system behaviors, environmental conditions, and notable events in real time; annotate edge cases and maintain accurate trip records.
  • Use company tools to tag/label clips, sync and upload datasets, and complete post‑drive checklists; escalate anomalies via the ticketing workflow.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections (fluids, tires, sensors, mounts, compute, cabling) and basic troubleshooting; coordinate maintenance as needed.
  • Partner with safety, operations, and engineering teams; provide crisp, objective feedback that improves test plans, software releases, and data quality.
  • Represent the company professionally with the public and site partners; protect confidentiality and follow all security procedures.
