About The Position

Proving Ground Testing Manually drive vehicles to support proving ground test procedures. Support the setup and teardown of autonomous test equipment. Maintain and perform daily inspections of autonomous equipment and vehicle. Observe and report vehicle characteristics with respect to functional performance and features. Support testing by moving and positioning vehicles for testing, fueling, and functional support. Communicate test and vehicle issues to vehicle test coordinators. Understand, Install, and remove all hardware related to autonomous testing. Diagnose and trouble shoot simple mechanical and electrical issues related to equipment used for autonomous testing (actuators, connectors, linkages. This is a Supplemental Driver Position - candidates who apply must agree to ALL of the following: Position is a UAW Represented Salaried Supplemental Position The employees will be assigned to a crew and will need to check in with the supervisor on each day to find out if there is work available. The expectation is that IF work is available the employee would be able to come in and work on that shift. If employee is not available to come in on an assigned work day more than 20% of the time when work is offered (attendance less than 80% on shifts offered) during a 3 month period employee could be terminated for attendance. Crew assignments are based on operation needs and seniority. We will try to accommodate employee preference for H-Crew/I-Crew but workload needs will determine final assignments. There are four times during the year per contract that employees can request to move shifts. There is a potential based on seniority that an employee's shift could be switched at that time based on other employee movement. Support the setup and teardown of autonomous test equipment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of driving experience with a valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver's license (will be required to obtain the Chauffer's endorsement prior to accepting an offer)
  • Capable of working a 12 hour shift pattern
  • Capable of working night shift
  • Capable of working in inclement weather
  • A strong demonstration of mechanical and electrical diagnostics skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems - installation, troubleshooting, repair
  • 1+ years of experience driving a manual shift transmission
  • 1+ years of experience trailer towing
  • Proficient in utilizing MS Office (Excel, Word. Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • ASC certified mechanic or equivalent experience
