About The Position

Expleo USA is hiring an Automotive Vehicle Triage and/or Modernization Engineer to join our client’s team in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This is a hands-on, garage-based role where you’ll lead triage efforts for a new light commercial vehicle (LCV) platform built on cutting-edge electric architecture developed in Europe. You’ll be at the heart of vehicle testing, diagnostics, and modernization—working directly with prototype vehicles to ensure performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive engineering, triage, or diagnostics
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle architectures and electrical system integration
  • Experience with diagnostic tools, CAN communication, and vehicle data logging systems
  • Proven ability to interpret CAN/LIN logs and troubleshoot vehicle subsystems
  • Experience in OEM or Tier 1 automotive environments
  • Skilled in structured problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in in-field quality or post-production issue resolution
  • Hands-on experience with hybrid or electric vehicle systems
  • Familiarity with fault tree analysis and 8D methodologies
  • Experience working in prototype garages or test environments
  • Exposure to global engineering teams and supplier collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Lead triage efforts for a new LCV vehicle platform for North America
  • Investigate, classify, and prioritize incoming technical issues (SW, FW, HW, wiring harness)
  • Reproduce and resolve complex hardware/software issues in prototype vehicles
  • Optimize test setups and troubleshoot using diagnostic tools and vehicle data
  • Analyze CAN/LIN logs and vehicle data to ensure system compliance
  • Perform functional, performance, and durability tests on automotive EE systems
  • Conduct fault tree analysis, 8D problem solving, and validation of corrective actions
  • Define and execute validation checklist tests and processes
  • Ensure alignment with Automotive client North America and global engineering quality objectives
