About The Position

Crest Acura and Cadillac are well-established automotive dealerships committed to providing exceptional service and a wide range of quality vehicles to our customers. Presently, we are seeking experiences, skilled automotive technician to join our Syracuse based team. The automotive technician will perform repair services and maintenance work on vehicles to maintain a safe and proper operating condition ensuring compliance with all dealership and state regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required and at least one year of mechanic/vehicle maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid NYS drivers’ license free from major infractions required.
  • Computer proficiency including basic data entry and writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs.
  • Ability to use appropriate power and hand-held tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, replace, and test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of operating and maintenance instructions including reading and interpreting safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare routine paperwork.
  • Ability to understand directions and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Detailed working knowledge of automotive safety standards and related regulations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year college degree in vehicle maintenance/automotive technology preferred.
  • Certified NYS Inspector technician.

Responsibilities

  • Confer with Service Advisor and Manager and Parts Personnel to obtain description of problem to determine maintenance or repair needs and estimate cost and appropriate time for repair. Communicate job progress and answer questions
  • Perform repairs and/or maintenance of customer vehicles including warranty repairs and recalls according to manufacturer and dealership standards. Dismantle defective machinery and install new or repaired parts. Change oil and filters and clean and lubricate shafts, gears, gaskets, and other parts. Install and rebuild engines, motors, and drive axles
  • Test vehicle operation following repair to ensure all maintenance and repair work is performed accurately and efficiently to prevent injury and further damage.
  • Complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on vehicles.
  • Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
