About The Position

Hyundai's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for a Technician for the Facilities and Support Team. The Technician would focus on the continuous development and enhancement of Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing vehicle maintenance and repair(s), testing vehicle systems and components, and supporting the engineering teams with vehicle-related investigations.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in automotive or industrial technology
• Experience contributing to automotive development or testing
• Familiarity with data acquisition systems
• Experience with vehicle systems (i.e., engine, transmission, HVAC, powertrain, EV, chassis, trim, body, electrical, and infotainment)
• Familiarity with CAN tools
• Root cause analysis skills
• Availability for urgent system issues that might require on-site presence at non-standard hours and/or locations, although this is generally infrequent
• Proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
• Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail
• Superb vehicle diagnostic skills
• Comfortable working in a shop or warehouse environment, which may include the following: Varying temperatures and conditions, Performing work activities while bending (at the waist), sitting, kneeling, lying horizontally, climbing, and walking, Pushing objects of 100 lbs or more, Lifting objects of 51 lbs or less

Responsibilities

• Perform four to five engine teardowns per day
• Partake in joint investigations with the Korean team(s)
• Collaborate with the engineering teams and assist with vehicle-related tasks, such as swapping parts, testing vehicle systems and components, logging data, etc.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance and repair(s)
• Conduct post-repair testing to ensure vehicles are operating as expected
• Publish reports on teardown results
• Document vehicle repairs and modifications in a database environment
• Identify problems with diagnostic equipment via Hyundai/Genesis/Kia GDS
• Interpret and transcribe data for record-keeping purposes
• Order parts and equipment
• Monitor the warranties of parts
• Support with the shipment of outgoing parts
• Operate and maintain shop equipment and tools
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment
• Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a hazard-free work environment
• Follow all state and federal regulations relating to performing automotive repairs
