As a driven & dedicated automotive technician at Community Automotive Repair, your day-to-day expectations will revolve around providing exceptional service and quality automotive repairs. You'll begin by diagnosing vehicle issues, utilizing your technical expertise to develop repair plans that ensure customer satisfaction. Your tasks will include performing routine maintenance, such as oil changes and tire rotations, alongside more complex repairs that require your problem-solving skills. You'll be expected to maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used to streamline operations and enhance communication with our team. Collaboration is key, so you'll work closely with fellow mechanics and technicians, sharing knowledge and techniques to improve efficiency and foster a positive work environment. Additionally, staying current with industry trends and best practices will be essential to succeed in this role. To thrive as a driven & dedicated Automotive Technician at Community Automotive Repair, certain skills and expertise are vital. You'll need to demonstrate proficiency in all Level I automotive criteria, which includes basic automotive skills and the adept use of hand and power tools to perform essential repairs and services. Your foundational abilities will encompass basic diagnostics and replacement of components like starters, alternators, batteries, and brake pads. Plus, routine maintenance such as; oil changes and fluid exchanges. Your experience in automotive repair should span 2-3 years, allowing you to conduct our level 1 criteria listed above and demonstrate your familiarity with using diagnostic tools and equipment for diagnosing and repairing critical systems, including engines, transmissions, and drive trains. You'll also need to be capable of handling HVAC systems and exhaust components. Documenting a logical cause-and-effect approach to repairs is crucial for effective communication within the team. State certifications are required, and pursuing ASE certifications after hiring is encouraged. Expected production hours per week for Level 2 typically fall between 35-45 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in all Level I automotive criteria.
  • Adept use of hand and power tools.
  • Basic diagnostics and replacement of components like starters, alternators, batteries, and brake pads.
  • Routine maintenance such as; oil changes and fluid exchanges.
  • 2-3 years of professional automotive technician experience.
  • Familiarity with using diagnostic tools and equipment for diagnosing and repairing critical systems, including engines, transmissions, and drive trains.
  • Capable of handling HVAC systems and exhaust components.
  • Documenting a logical cause-and-effect approach to repairs.
  • State certifications are required.
  • Production hours expectation: 35-45 hours.
  • General maintenance like oil and filter service, tire mounting and balancing, alignment, and all fluid changes.
  • Diagnose and repair or replace components related to battery and charging systems, major engine components, coolant systems, brake systems, steering and suspension, drivetrain and powertrain, HVAC heating and cooling, exhaust components (including ability to weld).
  • Must use and document a logical cause and effect method for recommending repairs.
  • Personal diagnostic tools and equipment necessary to perform functions of this skill level.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications preferred, willing to pursue upon hire if only state certifications are gained.
