About The Position

Collaborates with cross-functional design and engineering teams to develop high-quality digital surface models aligned with product and program objectives. Delivers production-ready digital assets with a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and timeline adherence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Transportation/Graphic Design and 4+yrs relevant experience OR 7+ yrs relevant experience in place of Bachelors degree.
  • Knowledge and working experience with surface development principles, form theory, and design intent translation.
  • Ability to create high-quality digital models using surfacing tools (e.g., Alias, Rhino, CATIA, ICEM Surf).
  • Ability to produce Class-A surfaces with G2–G4 continuity and curvature analysis to integrate engineering, packaging, and manufacturing criteria into digital surface models.
  • Ability to interpret and translate 2D sketches, design drawings, and concept data into production-ready 3D surfaces.
  • Ability to use visualization tools (e.g., VRED, Unreal Engine).
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.

Responsibilities

  • Applies advanced knowledge of design and styling principles, along with strong modeling techniques, to interpret design sketches, drawings, and layouts.
  • Translates styling intent and engineering requirements into accurate three-dimensional scale, full-size forms, and digital models while maintaining proper visual proportions, line character, directional quality, and overall design harmony.
  • Utilizes advanced digital modeling capabilities to develop package models for proposed vehicles or components within the assigned area of specialty.
  • Incorporates engineering specifications to generate and release high-quality digital styling and design data, including building and issuing 3D models and verifying that prove-out models meet defined engineering and styling requirements.
  • Serves as Person in Charge (PIC), interfacing with design, fabrication, and project teams throughout all phases of development.
  • Provides clarification of styling intent, produces finished models and package data in accordance with project schedules, resolves design and styling issues, implements model revisions, and communicates project progress or status updates as required.
  • Identifies and evaluates potential styling concerns that may impact product safety, quality, or manufacturability.
  • Collaborates with design stakeholders to review issues and recommend styling adjustments that enhance feasibility while preserving design intent.
  • Participates in project-related meetings, activities, and cross-functional discussions, providing technical input and general project support as needed.
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs.
  • Travel to client sites required.
