About The Position

Performs minor service procedures and repairs, including, rotating, mounting, dismounting, balancing, and repairing tires; changing oil and oil filters; and replacing wiper blades, bulbs, and fuses. Performs preventive maintenance services and routine repairs and adjustments to all makes and models of cars, trucks, and low speed vehicles Assists in performing annual inspections, repairing, overhauling, or replacing engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, steering, and suspension components under the supervision and guidance of an Automotive Service Technician II or higher. Assists in cleaning and organization of the Motor Pool shop, fuel dispensing area, parts department, and related parking and storage areas. Maintains accurate written and computerized records using current work order management system. Drives state vehicle to pick up and deliver customers, supplies, parts, and vehicles for the purpose of testing and evaluation. Assists with office duties, such as data entry, file maintenance, answering phones, and assisting customers. Valid Florida Class “E” driver’s license is required. NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday through Friday Position is considered Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) and zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area or completion of an apprenticeship and/or formal training/certification program.
  • Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Valid Florida Class “E” driver’s license is required.
