About The Position

At Manheim (a Cox Automotive company), we're hiring a Quality Inspector Trainer. An Inspector Trainer serves as the linchpin of the Inspections team, delivering top-notch service to clients on-site. Their mission? To provide precise, comprehensive documentation of a vehicle's overall condition. This documentation plays a pivotal role in ensuring clients vehicles are primed for seamless sale, both in-lane and online.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of related experience; Any degree and 5 years of related experience; or 9 years of experience in related field.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude; body, paint and mechanical repair knowledge.
  • Mastery of unibody and full-frame vehicles.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, follow directions and take instructions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Successful completion of Manheim ICP Inspector Level IV written/field exam; Basic Inspections, Vehicle Grading, Repair Recommendations & Frame Merit Certifications required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods of time; ability to bend, stoop, squat or kneel; ability to lift and hold at least 10 lbs at waist level for an extended period of time; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Mastery in VIN recognition; accurate notation of vehicle options, equipment, odometer readings, and functionality.
  • Identifying damage, missing parts, mechanical issues, and wear and tear.
  • Estimating repair costs and pricing parts using Mitchell Collision Estimate Guides (certification required).
  • Recommending labor actions, pricing, and severity.
  • Assessing value-added options, mechanical conditions, and fluid levels.
  • Documenting vehicle condition in a Vehicle Condition Report.
  • Completing inspections, data entry, and digital photo collection per guidelines.
  • Test driving and grading vehicles using Manheim's Grade Scale when applicable.
  • Travel to client locations and auctions, auditing condition reports and performing field inspections.
  • Verify vehicle information based on work orders, inspect interior and exterior for damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues.
  • Maintain a professional appearance for audits, field visits, and inspector training sessions.
  • Utilize ECR tools and ensure proficiency with job-relevant software and web applications.
  • Take accurate vehicle and damage photos, match them to vehicles, and upload them to the server.
  • Maintain knowledge of all relevant policies and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare daily activity reports for management and perform day-end procedures efficiently.
  • Handle special projects and maintain familiarity with system and policy updates.
