Van Bortel is currently hiring for a Porter position in our service department. This position is a full-time position qualifying the candidate the option to elect a variety of benefits. The schedule consists of 3 days per week working either a Monday - Wednesday shift or a Thursday - Saturday shift, both 7:30 am - 9:00 pm with a one-hour lunch and a half hour dinner. The shift worked will rotate every 4 - 5 weeks. The primary porter responsibilities and job duties are to greet customers in the service drive and perform a walk around inspection of the cars. The porter will then provide the customer direction to the Service Advisors and prepare the customer's car for service by installing a window tag, a matching key tag, covering the seat, and installing a floor mat. The Porter will then proceed to park the car in the designated service lot and hang the keys. The Porter will retrieve cars for customers, as well as maintain the parking and retrieval of Service Loaner cars as needed or directed. The Porter is responsible for keeping the service drive lane clean, as well as for providing shuttle rides as needed, picking up and dropping off customers' cars to their homes as needed, and completing a daily checklist with the other porters of all cleaning duties around the Service Shop. This description is not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned as needed. This is a team position of 2-3 porters per shift who share responsibilities and work together to maintain the service drive. Van Bortel is looking for a person who can work within a team and provide assistance to co-workers. The ideal candidate will be reliable and able to work the 3-day shift each week. The porter should be an independent thinker who can recognize and perform other duties during slower times of the shift. The position requires the ability to walk, stand, and bend for long periods of time in varying environmental conditions.
