About The Position

Amentum is looking for a qualified Painter, Automotive in our San Diego, California location. Paint or remove paint from contract units in accordance with customer specifications. Understands and applies various corrosion control methods and technologies. Position reports to Supervisor. Essential Responsibilities: Coats surfaces of contract units with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices. Removes old paint using liquid paint remover and scraper or plastic/sand media blasting techniques. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surface and provides corrosion control methods to customer specifications. Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted. Paints insignia, letters or numerals on vehicle surface, using stencils. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have three (3) years of recent experience in the maintenance, overhaul and painting/depainting of contract unit equipment.
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a Normal Color Vision test.
  • Must be able to pass a PFT and Respirator Fit test.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass and maintain any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is required.
  • May be required to pass a U.S. Government background security check.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Be proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
