Automotive Mechanic

About the position

This position repairs and maintains a variety of makes and models of passenger automobiles, motorcycles, trucks and heavy and light public works vehicles and equipment; reports to the Fleet Manager.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and intricate rebuilding/reconstructing of vehicles within the City's fleet.
• Recovery/recycling refrigerants from motor vehicle air conditioners.
• Maintaining motors at water and sewer pump stations throughout the City.
• Providing inspections on police-related accident investigations.
• Performing changeovers to vehicles in police, fire and other units that may include installing radios, lights, computers, cages, etc.

Requirements

• CDL A with air brake and tanker certifications required.
• State certified Class 7 licensing in inspections and emissions.
• Refrigerant recovery/recycling certification is required.
• Must pass a criminal background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug test.
