About The Position

Requirements

  • Possess a High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
  • Two years of experience as a mechanic in passenger vehicle and heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
  • A valid Class 'E' driver’s license and obtain a Class 'B' CDL Instructional Permit within 60 days of appointment.
  • Obtain a valid Class 'B' CDL with air brakes within 10 months of appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in body and fender repair work.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic equipment and repair manuals.
  • Customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose repairs needed for various automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
  • Purchase parts and supplies, complete all required paperwork, process invoices and work orders.
  • Respond to emergency road service calls.
  • Perform skilled work in the diagnosis, repair, overhaul and replacement of gasoline or diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and other parts and major components.
  • Field test vehicles and equipment to ensure the repairs have been satisfactorily completed.
  • Perform periodic maintenance, repair, and preparation of seasonal equipment.
  • Comply with all waste generation, storage, and disposal laws, rules, and policies.
  • Assist in the maintenance of proper documentation of all waste generation and disposal activities.
  • Submit requests for parts and supplies.
  • Track and report time charged on various work activities and complete shop work orders.
  • Operate personal computers and printers for processing warehouse commodity issue tickets and work orders.
  • Perform minor welding, paint and body repairs as needed.
  • Instruct other mechanics or helpers in the repair of automobiles, trucks, and other equipment.
