Prestige Auto Works in Sacramento, CA is looking for a skilled full-time Automotive Diagnostic Technician to join our dedicated team. You'll also get to take part in our supportive company culture and enjoy the following benefits : Health benefits 401(k) plan Paid holidays Paid sick days Holiday bonuses Summer BBQs that bring our team together YOUR DAY As an Automotive Diagnostic Technician, you will use cutting-edge scan tools, scopes, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot drivability, electrical, and mechanical systems on a range of vehicles-including European makes like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. You will diagnose check engine lights, warning lights, no-starts, and those tricky intermittent issues that others can't solve. Accurate documentation and clear communication with service advisors will be part of your routine, as will performing repairs based on your findings. You will take pride in maintaining a clean, organized workspace and will be supported by a collaborative and professional team every step of the way. Your day will be filled with opportunities to apply advanced diagnostic techniques, interpret live and freeze-frame data, and ensure every repair is completed right the first time. AUTOMOTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TECHNICIAN: YOUR HOURS You will work a stable, full-time schedule from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday . No evenings or weekends, so you can enjoy your life outside the shop while still putting your skills to the test every day. Requirements
- 5+ years of automotive repair experience (diagnostic-focused preferred)
- Strong electrical and drivability diagnostic skills
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and service information
- Valid driver's license
- Your own tools (specialty tools provided by the shop)
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic
- A clean criminal record is a prerequisite. Any job offer is contingent upon maintaining a clear background.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced electrical diagnostics experience (CAN/LIN networks, parasitic draws, module communication faults)
- Experience with European vehicles (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volvo, Jaguar, etc.)
- Smog check or emissions diagnostic experience
- Strong drivability diagnostic knowledge (misfires, fuel trims, EVAP, boost control, intermittent faults)
- Ability to use lab scopes, graphing scan tools, and multimeters confidently
- Ability to diagnose without parts guessing
- Experience interpreting live data, freeze-frame data, and service bulletins
- Familiarity with late-model vehicles and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
- Hybrid or mild-hybrid diagnostic experience is a bonus
- ASE Certifications (especially A6, A8, L1)
