About The Position

The Automotive Detailer at CarMax is responsible for performing cosmetic inspections, final quality inspections, and cleaning of vehicles to meet CarMax standards. This role involves various detailing tasks such as paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing, as well as supporting the reconditioning process and ensuring workplace cleanliness. Requirements

• Ability to complete all required training, both online and hands-on.
• Accountability to Associate 1 Competency Model.
• Meet performance standards for Reconditioning Associate and Reconditioning I.
• Successful completion of workstation certifications for Reconditioning Associate, Reconditioning Associate I and II.
• Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately.
• Capability to perform multiple duties in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Effective communication skills for dealing with customers and associates.

Responsibilities

• Complete cosmetic inspections and final quality inspections of vehicles.
• Perform vehicle cleaning, paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing according to CarMax standards.
• Execute standardized work processes at an established pace.
• Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities with the team.
• Train new associates under the guidance of Reconditioning Associate Lead.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workplace according to CarMax 5S standards.
• Identify defects and recommend appropriate repair methods.
• Drive vehicles on and off the lot as needed.
• Provide outstanding customer service at all times.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by Leads and Managers.
