About The Position

The Automotive Collision Repair Program Director & Tenure-Track Faculty position at Parkland College is a full-time, tenure-track role responsible for providing instruction, developing curriculum, mentoring students, and participating in departmental governance. The faculty member will teach various collision repair courses, maintain instructional spaces, and foster relationships with industry employers while ensuring adherence to safety and budgetary guidelines.

Requirements

  • AAS in the field plus 5 years of experience in the collision repair industry, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience in management and development of employees or mentoring experience.
  • ICAR certification in areas of instruction and commitment to obtain Platinum level certification within one year.
  • Obtain ASE Master Collision Repair certification within one year.
  • Ability to learn Parkland information systems and new programs as technology changes.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.

  • Experience in teaching or higher education settings.
  • Familiarity with modern collision repair technologies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide industry-based classroom instruction in accordance with college objectives and course outlines.
  • Inform students of course regulations and prepare course syllabi.
  • Teach courses during day, evening, or weekend based on needs.
  • Maintain updated grades and provide prompt feedback to students.
  • Work closely with the department chair to design and update course curriculum.
  • Maintain regular office hours for student consultation and advising.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and repair in instructional spaces.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to discipline knowledge.
  • Maintain Master ASE certification and ICAR Platinum recognition.
  • Participate in college-wide shared governance and departmental governance.
