The Starbucks experience starts in our Roasting Plants where we have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering, and logistics. In this role, you will be focusing on automated control system troubleshooting and process improvement. The scope and depth of involvement ranges from troubleshooting routine machine faults, programming robotic packaging equipment, as well as assisting/leading installation of capital improvements.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in similar industry (3 Years)
  • PLC Programming specific to Rockwell Automation software suite (3 Years)
  • Electrical troubleshooting (3 Years)
  • General industrial maintenance and electrical systems (3 Years)
  • Interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings including original equipment manuals (1 Year)
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes including NEC 70 and NFPA 70E (1 Year)
  • Proficiency with one or more SCADA/HMI development software suites.
  • Understanding of the use and interpretation of various test instruments in conjunction with properly interpreting schematics and technical drawings.
  • PLC ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks, covering modification, troubleshooting, and one or more Rockwell PLC programming languages.
  • Knowledgeable with Rockwell Automation products such as PLC’s, VFD’s, Servo’s, and field instrumentation devices.
  • Proficiency with common process control instruments such as motor drives, valves, relays and measurement transducers for pressure, temperature and flow as well as other sensor devices required.
  • Knowledgeable with industrial networking theory and hardware used to connect control system components and instrumentation including a wide variety of fiber, wired and wireless systems using industrial protocols (Control Net, Device Net, Ethernet I/P, ASI, Modbus, etc.)
  • Familiar with physical and virtual server architecture.
  • Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or direct relevant experience in any of the following fields / areas: Industrial Controls Industrial Automation Instrumentation Computer Science Network Architecture or Infrastructure
  • Technical leadership, with the ability to coach and mentor team partners
  • Familiarity with the food and beverage operations.
  • Knowledgeable with AC/DC theory, Ohm’s Law, transformers, power supplies and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/ISA S88 standards.
  • Knowledgeable with networked, manufacturing printers.
  • Familiarity with the development and ongoing maintenance of SCADA systems including User Interface Systems/HMI’s, including but not limited to, the following applications: WonderWare In-Touch, Archestra, RS Logix, and Ignition Suite.
  • Knowledgeable with the modification and maintenance of database applications including, but not limited to, SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with the basic troubleshooting of industrial robotics programing such as ABB robotics.
  • Familiar with the modification and maintenance of electrical documentation using AutoCAD, including panel, equipment, and process and instrumentation drawings (PID).
  • Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e. BRC and/or or SQF)

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation issues for the sites roasting, packaging, and soluble process equipment, and site utilities equipment.
  • Perform periodic maintenance of automation control systems and hardware (SCADA), and pursues opportunities to improve system reliability and uptime.
  • Work alongside engineering and operations team to implement capital project upgrades in support of plant safety, quality, and productivity goals.

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.
  • For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
