The Automation Tools Lead Engineer is a key role in Gas Power's Pillar Engineering Tools (PET) team where our mission aspires to innovate, build, and sustain software-based solutions that streamline the way work gets done. This is a unique space where one’s engineering knowledge and software development capability combine to produce solutions of high value. With a heavy focus on automating CAD-based designs and definition, while also improving access to PLM database information and mechanizing other business processes, the PET Automation group delivers over $9M of cost avoidance benefits to Gas Power annually. Our suite of automation tools includes approximately 150 active applications, catering to teams across Gas Power Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and others. The Automation Tools Lead Engineer is a contributor and lead in this group with responsibilities for new strategic tools development, portfolio management, and project management. The engineer may assume technical and/or functional ownership of different existing or to be developed tools. The lead role will additionally help drive operational rigor to standards, taking steps to grow awareness and usage of the automation teams’ suite of tools and help establish a preferred future state of these tools that can leverage newer AI capabilities into individual and/or collective tool coverage. Collaboration with PET members, business stakeholders, end users, and a sprinkling of IT partners will help drive the lead engineer towards realizing a vision of customer-minded, innovative solutions that stay at the forefront of what good looks like.
