About The Position

Technique, Inc. is looking for a Robotic Welding Technician to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This position reports to the Automation Supervisor in the Automation department. The role involves using MIG/TIG welding equipment in accordance with internal and customer specifications to weld stainless and carbon steel, supporting the QA team with part layouts and inspection, assisting in the design, development, and implementation of production fixturing, and operating and recovering welding robots for all phases of production. The ideal candidate brings 2 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment, with a high school diploma or GED and vocational training. Proficiency programming Motoman, Panasonic, and Fanuc robots is essential, along with a strong understanding of GD&T, blueprints, and weld fixture design. Experience with CAD, SolidWorks, and precision measurement tools is also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; vocational training
  • Forklift operator’s license preferred
  • 2 years of experience welding in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Good understanding of GD&T and blueprints
  • Proficient programming Motoman, Panasonic, and Fanuc robots
  • Ability to use CAD and SolidWorks
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools
  • Good understanding of weld fixture design
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the shift
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise
  • No travel required for this position
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime as needed
  • Note: days and hours required may vary
  • Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM; Friday, 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM

Responsibilities

  • Set up welders and weld – Set up welders, weld, and troubleshoot basic GTAW and GMAW mild steel joints based on knowledge of weld symbols and materials.
  • Perform 1st piece layouts – Perform 1st piece table layouts to support quality assurance.
  • Program and adjust robotic welders – Change and troubleshoot programs to make offsets on work pieces to ensure good welds.
  • Maintain robotic welders – Set up, calibrate, program, maintain, and troubleshoot robotic welders with feedback from CMM reports.
  • Package parts – Package parts for shipping.
  • Complete documentation – Complete job documentation for all production runs.
