About The Position

The Automation Technician position at Howmet Aerospace involves programming and maintaining CNC and advanced manufacturing equipment. The role focuses on resolving automated equipment issues, improving production flow, and implementing recommendations to enhance output and reduce cycle times. The technician will work on an off shift, with initial training on the day shift, and will receive a shift premium for off-shift work. This position is critical in supporting the manufacturing process and ensuring the reliability and productivity of equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Basic working knowledge of CNC programming using CAD/CAM and/or manual G-codes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree and technical training preferred.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment with hands-on CNC or G-code experience.
  • Experience with NX, Solid Works, Mastercam programming language/software, CAD systems, and Haas, DMG Mori machines is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with schematic and blueprint reading.
  • Understanding of electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Program various brands of CNCs and other advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Modify and maintain existing programs as well as create new programs.
  • Respond to help chain and resolve automated equipment issues to restore production flow.
  • Make recommendations and implement them to improve output and cycle times.
  • Use power tools, hand tools, and testing instruments as needed.
  • Follow manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints for equipment operation.
  • Provide manufacturing support and problem-solving for production issues in advanced manufacturing equipment areas with a focus on CNCs.
  • Lead cycle time and tooling cost reduction efforts.
  • Maintain and improve reliability and productivity of equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Design fixtures and select tooling for new castings.
