JOB SUMMARY The Automation Technician II will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated manufacturing equipment during the night shift (D Shift) to ensure continuous production and minimize downtime at Jabil Inc.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Automation Technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably with plastics injection molding or similar high-volume production.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and PLC ladder logic.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI interfaces.
  • Experience with robotics (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA) operation and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with vision systems and servo drives.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be available to work the night shift (D Shift) and occasional overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of automated production machinery, including robotics, PLCs, vision systems, and conveyor systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on automated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation problems using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Install, calibrate, and test new automation equipment and components.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including LOTO procedures.
  • Assist in the training of junior technicians on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
