About The Position

The Automation Technician II – Days – C Shift at Jabil Inc. is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and product quality. This role involves working within a C Shift schedule (typically weekend days and specific weekdays).

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Automation Technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably with plastic injection molding or similar automated assembly processes.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), specifically Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of robotics (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, ABB) and robotic programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and experience with precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various physical positions, including standing, bending, and kneeling, for extended periods.
  • Willingness and ability to work a C Shift schedule (e.g., Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and one weekday, or similar).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with vision inspection systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on a variety of automated equipment, including robots, conveyors, vision systems, and PLCs, according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on automated production lines, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components, including sensors, motors, drives, valves, and wiring, to minimize downtime.
  • Calibrate and adjust automated systems to ensure precision and accuracy in manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and validation of new automation equipment and production lines.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and PLC logic to aid in troubleshooting and repair.
  • Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Collaborate with production personnel, engineers, and other technicians to optimize equipment performance and resolve production issues.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and company policies.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in automated systems.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or production operators on equipment operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
