The Automation Service Manager oversees the DDC Service department, ensuring efficient operations, financial performance, and exceptional customer service. This role combines technical expertise in building automation systems (Schneider, Delta, Distech) with leadership and business development skills to drive growth, manage key accounts, and implement strategic initiatives.

  • Oversee all aspects of the DDC Service department, including scheduling, dispatching, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to service technicians, fostering technical excellence and customer focus.
  • Support technicians in troubleshooting complex DDC systems and programming in plain English.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Schneider, Delta, and Distech programming platforms.
  • Manage department P&L, service contract profitability, inventory, and budgeting.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for high-level service contracts and escalated customer issues.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including national accounts and service projects.
  • Collaborate with account managers, estimators, operations, and engineering teams for seamless project execution.
  • Assist in job walks, scope definition, and proposal development for large service opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals to maximize profitability.
  • Promote innovation and leverage technology to improve service efficiency.
  • Mentor team members and train sales staff on technical strategies
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years in building automation, service operations, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Strong troubleshooting and programming skills; familiarity with Schneider, Delta, and Distech systems; ability to program in plain English.
  • Proven experience managing P&L, budgeting, and service contract profitability; strong understanding of business development strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with building automation software and service management tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills; ability to handle escalated issues professionally; strong strategic thinking and market analysis capabilities.
