About The Position

As the Automation Service Engineer II, you are part of a dynamic team that supports our two sites ( RedWood City & Palo Alto) and works on a variety of laboratory equipment including Automated Plasma Isolation (API) track system, liquid handlers & sequencers and is responsible for installations, maintenance & repairs etc. He/She must be detail oriented, have worked in a regulated environment (CLIA, CAP and FDA desirable), possess strong documentation skills (GDP) and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Requirements

  • A BS degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting Hamilton Liquid Handlers, Illumina Sequencers, Quadprint labelers, Bravo platform/heads, Multiflos, Precise robotic arms, Beckman Avanti J-15R centrifuges and other DNA quantification instruments are required.
  • Experience authoring and executing PM, IQ, OQ, repair, and other service-related documentation.
  • Experience developing and leading training programs to provide knowledge-transfer to other engineers and lab personnel.
  • Experience working within a CLIA and GMP regulated environment.
  • Experience standardizing processes for scalability and sustainability.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external colleagues and customers from diverse scientific, engineering, operational, and regulatory disciplines.

  • Ability to take part in an on-call rotation with after hours and weekend responses as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Liquid Handler programming experience is a plus.
  • Robotics experience is a plus.
  • Field service engineering experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment installations, maintenance, repairs, and qualifications to ensure the highest level of instrument reliability and up-time.
  • Monitor instrument metrics and advocate serviceability within cross-functional teams
  • Responsible for instrument up-time and ensuring that service documentation meets Guardant Heath's quality management system
  • Evaluate equipment performance trends to propose long-term solutions as needed.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and disseminate information by developing SOPs, checklists, and service bulletins.
  • Contribute to the management of a maintenance and calibration system.
  • Help end-users troubleshoot issues
  • Provide service and support during normal business hours, as well as after hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with third party service providers.
