This role is a valuable part of our Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) team, which is committed to achieving our mission of delivering innovative cell and gene therapies to patients. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with key stakeholders in Process Development, Analytical Development, Manufacturing, and Quality. The Opportunity: As an Automation/Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and optimizing automation solutions to support emerging cell and gene therapy manufacturing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure alignment with regulatory and quality standards to advance our mission of delivering transformative therapies to patients. Additionally, you will: Lead the design, development, and implementation of automated control systems to support cell and gene therapy manufacturing processes. Partner with stakeholders, including Process Development, Analytical Development, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, to identify and address automation needs. Support the integration, testing, and validation of new automation technologies and systems to ensure scalability and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve automation system issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational excellence. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including functional specifications, system designs, and validation protocols. Monitor, analyze, and improve automated systems to enhance process control, safety, and compliance with quality standards. Serve as a subject matter expert in automation, providing technical guidance and training to cross-functional teams on system functionality and best practices. Who you are: Note that this position can be hired as either Automation or Senior Automation Engineer, depending on candidate qualifications. You possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field, with 2-4 years of experience in automation engineering within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing industry. You have demonstrated experience managing diverse stakeholders and building strong partnerships across Process Development, Analytical Development, Manufacturing, and Quality functions. You have experience working in a matrixed environment, coordinating cross-functional projects, and managing competing priorities effectively. You possess experience working with automation platforms and systems, such as SCADA, DCS, and PLCs, with a focus on supporting complex manufacturing processes. You have an understanding of FDA regulations, cGMP standards, and compliance requirements for pharmaceutical or biotechnology production. You are able to serve as a member of the 24/7 Rotational On Call Support Team.
