The Automation Project Engineer I is responsible for the needs analysis, design, development, implementation, management, and troubleshooting of automation and process controls design projects with an emphasis on designing to overall project budgets for small projects (<$50,000). The incumbent will provide design assistance to multi-person design teams to deliver overall project automation designs and will be comfortable acting as a discipline support resource in any multi- disciplined environment. After significant support experience, incumbent will be responsible for leadership on smaller design projects with oversight from more experienced colleagues. The ideal candidate is proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite and must have experience with PLC program development, and HMI/SCADA development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Entry level – experience with controls preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of control networks, network architecture, and communication protocols.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite and must have experience with PLC program development, and HMI/SCADA development.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with clients and other subcontractors to collaborate on design intent.
  • Assists with development of department design standards and procedures.
  • Interfaces with CAD department to develop drawings for projects.
  • Assists with estimating project design requirements.
  • Provides guidance to project managers to ensure that construction activities comply with specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Ensures projects are documented properly and effectively using customer requirements as well as Faith's prescribed standards and practices.
  • Coordinates and assists Automation Engineers with project startup and service activities.
  • Leads software development for PLC and Operator Interface programming.
  • Consistently follows Faith Technologies established design standards.
  • Actively participates in continued education efforts
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
