We are seeking a hands-on, process-driven Production Supervisor to join our AP Emissions team in the automotive aftermarket manufacturing industry. This person will help lead operations in our newly commissioned catalytic converter production line. This highly automated line (70% automation) is a critical part of our next-generation manufacturing capabilities an d will b e operated by a lean team of just two operators per shift. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a solid understanding of automated manufacturing processes, quality standards, and team supervision, with the ability to optimize performance, ensure safety, and support the successful startup and ramp-up of a new production process.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing , Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a production supervisory or team leader role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with automated or semi-automated production lines
  • Proven ability to manage high-performing teams in fast-paced settings.
  • Strong understanding of automated production processes, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and vision systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Problem-solving abilities in a high-tech, low-labor production environment.
  • Comfort working in cross-functional teams and supporting new process implementations.
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office; ERP/MRP experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs ), standing, and walking throughout the shift

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant technical training or certifications (Lean, Six Sigma, automation) is a plus.
  • Experience in automotive, components manufacturing, or precision assembly environments preferred.
  • Bilingual skills a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production operations of the automated catalytic converter line with strong decision-making, prioritization, and problem-solving skills to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Supervise and support 2 machine operators, providing guidance, on-the-job training, and performance feedback.
  • Monitor and interpret performance metrics (OEE, scrap, downtime, throughput), using data analysis and critical thinking to adjust priorities, allocate resources, and maintain production flow in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ensure production planning and scheduling is executed in alignment with goals and customer requirements.
  • Oversee execution of work instructions, SOPs, and quality control checks throughout the automated production process.
  • Monitor automated equipment performance (robotics, conveyors, vision systems, PLC-controlled machinery) and coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to resolve issues promptly
  • Participate in startup, commissioning, and process validation of the new production line, collaborating closely with Automation and Engineering teams.
  • Champion a safety-first culture by modeling safe behaviors, reinforcing procedures, and ensuring all employees follow occupational safety rules, housekeeping standards, Hazmat regulations, and SOPs.
  • Conduct safety audits, incident reporting, and investigations, driving corrective actions and documenting risks to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, regulatory, and company compliance requirements, including intellectual property protection and electronic device controls.
  • Promote a quality mindset by monitoring automated outputs, addressing deviations in real time, and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing production team by fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear expectations, provide timely feedback, and conduct ongoing coaching to support employee growth and career goals.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, cross-training, and performance management to ensure operators are equipped for success in an automated environment.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment that drives engagement and supports organizational objectives
  • Apply expertise in Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste, improve processes, and hold teams accountable for sustaining operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements in automation and recommend process or layout changes that enhance throughput or reduce costs.
  • Partner effectively with Scheduling, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and HR to resolve production issues, support new product introductions, and ensure manufacturing readiness.
  • Report on automation-specific metrics and communicate clearly to keep stakeholders informed, aligned, and engaged in driving operational success.
