The Automation PLC Technician is responsible for overseeing preventive and breakdown maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. You'll perform general diagnostic and programming of PLCs using an understanding of PLC operations. This position handles the installation, diagnostics, programming, and repair of robotic equipment as well as the safe and timely installation and maintenance of electrical control systems. You'll have the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively with other departments to identify, define, and solve problems.

Requirements

  • Associate (A.S.) degree in Electronics Technology (or closely related technical field), or a combination of education and experience, which may include skilled trades programs or military training
  • 4+ years of automation experience and/or industrial maintenance experience
  • Standard computer skills plus strong skills in document organization, the use of technical materials, and research techniques
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with team members
  • Function optimally in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of management and operations personnel
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in any technical field or techniques are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical automation systems and equipment, drive systems, robotic systems, microprocessor-based (PLC) systems, electronic control systems/devices, and vision/laser systems
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, coordinating with manufacturers and field representatives as needed
  • Dismantle, adjust, repair, and assemble equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches, or drawings
  • Use test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts
  • Rebuild manufacturing equipment as needed, assist in the movement and installation of equipment, and source equipment parts as needed
  • Calibrate instrumentation devices using specialized test equipment and software
  • Respond to trouble calls and emergencies, both during and outside normal work hours
  • Troubleshoot hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, pumps, control circuits, digital electronics, electrical, power supplies, computers, and power distribution, as well as perform preventive maintenance on various Production and Automated systems
  • Comply with and follow all procedures within the company's security policy
