About the position

The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 - Traveler is responsible for operating Omnicell automation at customer sites according to established SOPs and best practices. This role involves performing automation tasks in an aseptic and error-free manner, following safe handling procedures for hazardous drugs, and optimizing the customer's use of automation. The technician will collaborate with Pharmacy Operation Managers and other teams throughout the project timeline, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and compliance with all procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Omnicell automation at customers sites according to Omnicell SOPs and best practices.
  • Perform automation tasks in an aseptic, error free manner, consistent with set guidelines.
  • Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when handling medications.
  • Perform automation technician duties to optimize the customer's use of automation.
  • Recommend drugs to be added to automation products based on data usage, demand, and workflow.
  • Inspect robot automation equipment daily for issues, wear, and functionality.
  • Perform automation equipment cleaning, maintenance, and optimization as required.
  • Responsible for monitoring and/or ordering consumable supplies required for the operation of the equipment.
  • Collaborate and work under the direction of the Pharmacy Operation Managers, Professional Services Team, and Staff Augmentation Point of Contact throughout project timeline.
  • Load medications based on assignments made in preparation for go-live.
  • Unload and organize medications in bins or bags for the customer to restock into inventory post go-live.
  • Responsible for basic troubleshooting and maintenance of automation equipment and reporting unresolved equipment issues to the appropriate helpdesk.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with pharmacy operations manager and customer, to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem identification and resolution.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program to provide customer-focused support emphasizing quality, professionalism, and responsiveness.
  • Conduct training and ensure completion of all required documents and compliance with all Pharmacy Services procedures and policies.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility for work-related expenses, complete expense reports, adhere to corporate card procedures, per Omnicell travel policies.
  • Comply with reasonable procedures, policies and guidelines established by the Customer facility.
  • Maintain national certification and all state required credentialing.
  • Act as a resource or SME for Omnicell team members and customers, providing training and/or assistance either on site or remotely to ensure optimal workflow.
  • Assign medications remotely using Omnicell's Medication Assignment Tool (MAT) or assign medications onsite directly at the Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC).
  • Assist Omnicell's Professional Services project team as needed with organizing staging area, go-live tasks, pushing hardware into the final location, etc.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Active Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT); PTCB or ExCPT certifications accepted.
  • Active License/Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Valid Driver's License & Reliable Transportation.
  • Covid-19 vaccination.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completed an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy automation equipment in a hospital/pharmacy setting (2 years strongly preferred).
  • Working knowledge of IV compounding/sterile environment requirements (1 year strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous medications.
  • Troubleshooting skills with automation devices.
  • Proficient in the use of PPE and hand hygiene techniques.
  • Project management/implementation experience.
