About The Position

Quanex is looking for a Maintenance Technician II - Days to join our team located in Winnebago, IL . The Automation Maintenance Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated manufacturing and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role requires strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with industrial automation equipment, and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues. The hours of operation for this role will be Monday to Friday, with a starting time between 6:45am - 9:00am to 3:15pm - 6:00pm, with the ability to work every other weekend. We Offer You! Requirements

  • 4+ of experience, preferably within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of electrical and mechanical applications
  • Proficient technical and systems experience, including CMM systems experience
  • Ability to read schematics

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated production equipment and control systems
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and related automation components
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automation systems
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical manuals
  • Support equipment installation, upgrades, and commissioning
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to improve system performance
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Document maintenance activities, system changes, and troubleshooting efforts
