About The Position

The Automation Maintenance M (Mechanic) supports all manufacturing processes by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and installing automated equipment including, but not limited to, robots, conveyors, hoppers, pumps, low voltage sensors, pneumatic and hydraulic valves, etc. This position requires excellent mechanical skills as well as good communication, organization and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will work closely with other mechanics and engineers to resolve related production issues similar but not limited to high scrap and low cycle time. Summary: Responsible for all maintenance activities on automated equipment in a manufacturing facility. This includes preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, installation of new equipment and modification of existing equipment. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively interface with production personnel, engineering, quality assurance, purchasing, safety and sanitation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience. Associates degree preferred.
  • Two years’ experience working with pneumatics, low voltage electrical systems, and basic mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with computerized systems and HMI interfaces.
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and maintain good housekeeping practices. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them. Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain and repair all automated equipment used throughout the plant.
  • Use FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 820) as a guide for all maintenance operations.
  • Assist engineering department with implementation of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Develop proactive maintenance schedules for each piece of equipment.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance on equipment at regular intervals.
  • Perform unscheduled repairs or modifications to equipment as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance performed using CMMS system.
  • Communicate with production and other support departments regarding scheduled and unscheduled downtime.
  • Train production personnel on the proper use of equipment.
