This is a 3-4-year competency-based Maintenance Technician Development program. This program has been developed to meet the needs for qualified Maintenance Technicians in the Lafayette, IN facility, through on-the-job training and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) study program. The trainee will be assigned to a variety of training stations with specific learning activities throughout the facility that pertain to their skill path, and will rotate between first, second and third shifts as needed to complete learning requirements. Upon successful completion of the program, the trainee will be given the opportunity to become a level 6 Maintenance Technician. The applicant will be required to take classes at a local Ivy Tech community college to acquire a technical certificate during the program. The applicant will also be required to work all shifts IE: first, second & third during the Maintenance Training Development program. It is incumbent that the applicant takes the lead in his or her own learning by working within the ILP and the tradesmen. Successful candidate will graduate from the Maintenance Technician Development program to a 2nd or 3rd shift opening to be determined later.

Requirements

  • Technical certificate or associate degree from an accredited program.
  • Intermediate level mechanical/electrical skills, PLC’s, Drives, Electrical
  • The applicant must be willing to take a variety of written and hands-on assessments and complete required learning assignments with subject study and specific homework assignments on their own time.
  • The applicant will also be required to work all shifts during the apprentice program.
  • Strong computer hardware, network and software skills and knowledge.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical skills, hydraulics, pneumatics.
  • Candidate should be willing to work overtime, such as weekends, holidays and shutdowns.
