About The Position

Cell Signaling Technology, Inc. (CST) is a worldwide leader in developing and commercializing antibodies, assays, and research tools. One of our most successful community initiatives is our Summer Internship Program. By employing and training students from our surrounding communities and colleges, CST is able to provide our summer interns with a positive hands-on experience in our Laboratory, where they can learn valuable skills from our knowledgeable CST Scientists and Engineers. Many of the student interns are invited to continue their internship for consecutive years, and after completing their degrees, some return to CST as full-time employees. Our internship positions are paid positions ($17.00 - $18.00 per hour) and are full-time roles, Monday-Friday. Responsibilities: CST offers hands-on internship opportunities in a variety of departments across the organization, including product development, production, and research. This role is specifically related to the laboratory automation group within the research Department. This group sits at the intersection of automated hardware, lab software automation, and the biological processes used across the laboratory at CST. Responsibilities for this role include the following: Basic software DevOps practices and procedures Programming experience in a professional environment Github and version control Cross functional collaboration with other R&D teams Ability to use their own creativity and ideas to create automated solutions Exposure to laboratory practice and liquid handling systems Technical Highlights: Basic DevOps practices and procedures Programming experience in a professional environment Prioritization exercises Story writing and organizational exercise Utilizing project management tools (JIRA) Project Management Github and version control Cross functional collaboration Reviewing legacy code and optimizing code from other engineers Collaboration with other engineers Ability to use their own creativity and ideas to create automated solutions Project based internship Exposure to laboratory practice and liquid handling systems

Requirements

Must be currently enrolled in an Undergraduate program in computer science, engineering or a related science.
Basic programming proficiency
Should possess a passion for technology, science, and learning
Exhibit strong communication and collaborative skills
Programming Ability: Proficiency In Python
Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming as well as familiarity with scripting
Basic command line skills
Data Engineering Basics: Database Experience (SQL, MySQL, AWS S3)
Familiarity with ETL Processes (Extract, Transform, & Load)
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills: Data Modeling: Able to take raw data and efficiently model data structures to efficiently store, maintain, and retrieve data.
Has the ability to analyze a problem, understand the problem, and work to create innovative solutions to solve said problem.
Interpersonal and Team Skills: Enjoys working with others
Able to explain your own work on a fundamental and abstract level
Good communication skills and good organizational + prioritization skills
