Join us as our new Automation-Instrumentation Engineer This position prioritizes, manages and directs actions associated with automation controls and instrumentation activities as well as provide mechanical engineering over site in leading small or continuous improvement projects. Provide leadership and technical expertise to the maintenance and production departments at the West Allis Site. Structure and manage interaction with integrators and contractors. In this role you'll make an impact by: Serving as electrical resource for Engineering, Maintenance, and Production Departments, in areas such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Servo Drives, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Human Machine Interface (HMIs) electrical standards, Industrial Robotics and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), controls system troubleshooting and future electrical direction. Identifying, developing and managing training needs for the Maintenance group to ensure that skill levels are managed and advanced as needed to support plant systems and equipment. Identifying, analyzing, and reducing equipment downtime along with identified repetitive electrical or control failures and interacting cross-functionally to develop process understanding to resolve issues or improve processes. Identifying, analyzing and managing a master plan to upgrade controls and instrumentations at plant sites. Managing and maintain the controls schematics for plant process systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field and 3+ years of experience; or in lieu of degree 5+ years relevant experience in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in electrical and controls system maintenance & troubleshooting, specifically with PLCs, VFDs, Servos and HMI’s.
  • Ability to work with integrator to improve systems or resolve issues.
  • Experience with RSLinx, RSLogix 500/5000 Software, and SCADA Software (Wonderware/Factory Talk View).
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet IP components and networking.
  • Experience troubleshooting: Hydraulics, Valves, Pneumatics, Tooling, Gearboxes, Fanuc Robots, ...etc....
  • Innovative, have good technical and mechanical knowledge, and possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience managing small projects through to successful completion by working with local support teams and contractors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a Food or Processing industry is preferred.
  • Travel for trade shows, factory acceptance testing, and other Novonesis sites.
