Automation Engineering Manager (Flex Location)
About The Position
This position will be fully remote, but the candidate must be willing to travel as needed up to 75% or more of the time. This position is a UPS Customer Solutions position responsible for working with vendors to scope, design, and implement warehouse automation solutions within shipping and distribution facilities for UPS customer facilities. She/he collaborates with warehouse engineers on conceptual Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and automation designs, then works with various vendors to move the conceptual design to a proposal. Finally, the incumbent works with the selected vendor to implement the design within the customer’s facility.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent
- Experience implementing logistics and technology-based solutions
- Experience implementing warehouse automation systems
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience working with vendors
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with warehouse engineers on conceptual designs
- Works closely with customers and vendors to finalize system design
- Works closely with UPS sales resources to present proposals to customers and obtain a signature on Statement of Work (SOW)
- Selects appropriate vendor based on capabilities and other selection criteria
- Works with selected vendor to transform conceptual designs into a customer proposal
- Manages the implementation of the design within the customer facility
- Oversees vendors and timelines with the assistance of the assigned project manager
- Responsible for holding vendors accountable to the statement of work for each respective project
- Responsible for the overall success of the project from end to end
- Potential for extensive travel up to 75% or more
