About The Position

In this position... As an Automation Engineer in Final Assembly, you will join a talented team of engineers, guiding your team in the application of final assembly tooling to ensure our tier 1 suppliers are adhering to GVOSS with final assembly tooling throughout design & build. This position requires hands-on technical expertise in troubleshooting and commissioning automated equipment within a production environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage multiple technical priorities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional maintenance and engineering.

Requirements

  • B.S. Engineering- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience or similar related technical field; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education
  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
  • 2+ years' experience in Mfg leadership capacity

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in leveraging Virtual Manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Team Center, Vis mockup) for advanced analysis and process optimization.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to supplier base within greater Detroit area
  • Ability to travel to Ford North American Assembly Plant facilities for installation of equipment/tooling as needed.
  • Vehicle development processes
  • Proficiency with GVOSS
  • Automotive manufacturing and launch processes

Responsibilities

  • Assign work schedules for Controls Engineers and Designers.
  • Maintain a current resource sheet with active and future project assignments for all Controls activities
  • Ensure quality work from controls Engineers and Designers, setting standards and building tools to create common practice between the controls team.
  • Monitor progress on projects to ensure all Controls activities are on schedule partnerships.
  • Drive standardization for Final Assembly Tooling
  • Ensure the "Lessons Learned" loop from implementation back to core is being realized with the tooling supplier base
  • Team Leadership & Development: Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to a team of manufacturing engineers, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Generate electrical/pneumatic schematics and BOM's in compliance with established company
  • Review the programming I electrical specifications and requirements in detail with the assigned Controls personnel to ensure full compliance is achieved.
  • Provide support for any control system issue or concern with customers.
  • Provide support for all Controls Engineers & Designers to help facilitate their job performance.

  • Ensure controls engineering support is provided to customers, sales, and project managers
  • Travel for machine installation as required.
