About The Position

Automation Engineer Responsibilities: Motivation, i.e., helping Soundwich succeed within Job Classification Responsibilities Assist in quotation process of new work with automation processes in mind Assist in quotation of automation cells Oversee installation of new automation projects for production processes Troubleshoot current automation work cells Teach robots new programs for new parts or methods Teach/modify robot position points and motion profiles/speeds between points in existing programs Design work fixtures for welding, laser marking, and other work holding Understand and follow all Company Procedures and work instructions pertaining to assigned tasks, and the potential consequences of departure from these Procedures Knowledge of the Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, all Company Policies, and the importance of conformance to Soundwich and Customer requirements. Knowledge of the effects that nonconforming products have on our customers Knowledge of the Environmental Policy, Environmental Objectives, all Safety Polices, and the importance of conformance to Soundwich and Regulatory requirements Aware of the Quality impacts of their work activities, their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformance within the Quality System and the benefits of improved personal performance Aware of the Environmental and Safety impacts of their work activities, their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformance within the Environmental and Safety System and the benefits of improved personal performance Aware of how to submit Quality, Safety, Environmental and Business-Related questions or suggestions, and how to initiate continual improvements Any other responsibility deemed by Soundwich Management to be in the best interest of Soundwich and our Customers Requirements: Experience in Autocad Inventor or similar Mechanical design knowledge Ability to draw sheet metal and/or machined parts Understanding of machine and GDT tolerances Ability to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical, pneumatic systems to find and correct errors or failures Knowledge of how inputs/outputs are physically connected into PLC or robot controller Knowledge of different types of discrete vs analog sensors Understanding of servo motors/encoders and they track motor positions, for both new and maintenance of current systems Proficient in use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Manufacturing experience and/or proficient understanding a plus Leadership abilities Strong communication skills and strong teamwork sense Must have a global mindset Good verbal and written communication skills Education: Engineering degree or equivalent experience Automotive background knowledge a plus Experience with robotics systems, Yaskawa Motoman experience a plus Experience with 24VDC PLC and IO systems and common practice Experience using ladder logic programming to accomplish varying tasks withing PLC system Experience using code to manipulate and check IO signals to accomplish tasks within an automated system Experience with automatic (pneumatic, hydraulic) clamping and their controls

Requirements

  • Experience in Autocad Inventor or similar
  • Mechanical design knowledge
  • Ability to draw sheet metal and/or machined parts
  • Understanding of machine and GDT tolerances
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical, pneumatic systems to find and correct errors or failures
