About The Position

The Automation Engineer is responsible for ensuring that existing automation equipment and systems operate at peak performance to maximize production output while maintaining the highest standards of product quality and regulatory compliance. This role supports the implementation of next-generation automation technologies and continuous improvement initiatives under appropriate technical leadership. The Automation Engineer also contributes to the upgrade, optimization, and validation of current automation systems within a cleanroom manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–7 years of experience in a manufacturing or automation-focused environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, manufacturing automation systems, or industrial equipment support; or equivalent combination of education and progressive technical experience.
  • Associate’s Degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred (or actively pursuing).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, PLC, and control system issues.
  • Strong understanding of automation architecture, sensors, actuators, motion control, and industrial equipment integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, assembly drawings, safety documentation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Experience working with PLCs, HMIs, industrial control systems, and related software platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing workflows, process optimization, and industrial engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; capable of preparing technical documentation and reports.
  • Proficient in standard computer software and engineering tools.
  • Willingness to work overtime as operational needs require.
  • Solid understanding of sound engineering principles and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare automation equipment for production operation readiness, including but not limited to pre – conditioning runs and electrical checks
  • Ensure automated systems meet regulation parameters, quality standards, and all production requirements.
  • Ability to review automation equipment blueprints, schematics, and assembly drawings and verify against actual equipment to highlight any deficiencies.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement corrective action to improve efficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot, problem solve, and apply solutions as required or requested and ensure processes are ready for operations within the predetermined control parameters. This will include adjusting equipment to within allowable limits and/or evaluating operator techniques and/or evaluating materials to assure acceptable products.
  • Coordinate spares inventory management with assistance of Engineering and Maintenance to ensure minimal downtime because of missing spares
  • Assist Engineering and Maintenance as needed on continuous improvement project activities.
  • Take on cross-functional technician duties in the product development department when required.
  • Must have component soldering skills as well as mechanical assembly aptitude.
