About The Position

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Automation Engineer to join our growing team. Seeking an Automation Engineer to support our Pottsville facility by continually identifying opportunities for improvement and initiating actions to improve processes and production methods that safely improve manufacturing quality, delivery, and cost to best meet customer needs in support of the facility objectives.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, time management tools.
  • Proficient with Rockwell Automation software, such as Studio5000, FactoryTalk View Studio and similar.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the industrial manufacturing area.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical Engineering thought processes to engineer, design, develop, recommend, and implement strategies and programs that address manufacturing operations.
  • Able to interface with outside suppliers and be able to co-design component parts with vendors if needed, or as directed by senior engineers.
  • Fundamental understanding and application of tolerance and datum's and how to apply them in Engineering and manufacturing.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing process improvement techniques utilizing engineering methodologies a plus, including, but not limited to Continuous Improvements, SQDCI, Lean Six Sigma, TPS, etc.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy to include cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition Software a plus.
  • Mechatronics.

Responsibilities

  • Support production areas with the aim of resolving assembly and manufacturability issues.
  • Confer with shop floor and support functions to assist in resolving manufacturing problems using lean and six sigma methodologies.
  • Observe and analyze current methods/processes to make recommendations in areas of improvement to bring about work simplification and standardization, quality improvement, and cost reduction.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with training group managers and hourly associates on new manufacturing processes.
